This realistic anatomical wax model was made made by Francesco Calenzuoli (1796-1821).
Apart from showing all the internal organs in a female torso and head, include also veins and arteries and the heart is entirely removable.
Wax models were used for teaching anatomy to medical students at that time in a a more interactive manner. The model was donated by the Department of Human Anatomy at the University of Oxford.
